Bioregionalism is an ideology, that believes certain communities in their region, climate flora, fauna and environment affects how people act in their community and in their environment. Therefore it is environmentalist so we can better the human condition in these places. It is against ideas like capitalism and other homogeneous economies due to lack of concern for the environment. Bioregionalism is NOT for the idea of free markets,
History
The history of bioregionalism beings in the 60's when Peter Berg advocated for it. Although the term wasn't coined until the the 70's by Allen Van Newkirk, it was still an ideology just without a name. Peter advocated for a system where certain bioregions (Environments), were separated by others because certain bioregions affect how people act and thus it would be better for people in the certain bioregions to be separated from others. Bioregionalist activism is mostly seen now in Cascadia (bioregion) in where the Doug flag is implemented.
