Questions about State Liberalism Labelling

Would anyone mind explaining why these claims are here? As far as I know, American citizens are still able to go around having dissenting political opinions without being murdered by a police state, and the V-Dem stats suggest that the USA still enjoys high levels of freedom from torture and political killings? Is there any real evidence for the existence of a totalitarian progressive state? The people labelled as StatLibs are actual governing officials, so presumably there should be some evidence of legislation they have enacted to back up these claims of politicide.

If there is no clear evidence of this, it seems better to replace them with something a little less dramatic.
