That's because it doesn't do away with capital it instead changes only where this capital goes to, that being to the whole society rather than individual capitalists. But that in fact changes litte to nothing in the eyes of the worker. He still has no control over how much he works, he is still faced with bureaucratic authority in the workplace and most obviously his labour power is still exploited towards the generation of surplus value. I would doubt any socialist disagrees with me when I say warren buffett does't stop being a capitalist just because he has promised to give away 99% of his wealth when he dies. So why would these same socialists argue that this system is socialist when it reproduces the same logic? |
