Community:Wikitide Migration
On October 28, 2023, this wiki was migrated to Wikitide, marking the beginning of the end for the Polcompball Wiki's 2+ year stay in Miraheze, this transfer will be completed on February 10, 2024, when the Miraheze wiki will become inaccessible.
Why are we moving hosts?
Miraheze has been plagued by many issues related to management, these culminated on June 16, 2023 when Miraheze staff announced that they would be ending Wiki creation immediately and cease operating on August 31, 2023. 3 days later, the shutdown was called off, but the uncertainty had startled many of the admins of communities hosted on the platform, prompting a search for a replacement. The most obvious alternative was WikiTide, a non-profit wiki farm, spun off for profit wiki farm WikiForge, and largely operated by former Miraheze staff. After weeks of talks with WikiTide staff, the WikiTide Polcompball wiki and Polcompball anarchy wiki were created on July 6, 2023.
What happened to Miraheze since
On January 7, 2024, following a community vote, Miraheze was officially incorporated into WikiTide Foundation, securing the future for both wikis still hosted on Miraheze and those hosted on WikiTide. This, however also caused a problem for already migrated wikis like ours, since they would now have 2 different wikis on the same host, originating possible conflicts.
What will happen on February 4, 2024
On February 4, 2024, 1 week before the final migration, all main namespace pages will be locked, being editable only by admins and content moderators. After this point, you will have 1 week to move any content on this wiki to the respective WikiTide page before it vanishes. Remember to give proper attribution to any media you move and to mention the origin of the changes you are carrying over; plagiarism isn't nice.
What will happen on February 10, 2024
On February 10, 2024, this wiki will become inaccessible; the WikiTide wiki will be moved to the polcompball.wiki domain, causing all 3 domains (polcompball.miraheze.org, polcompball.wiki and polcompball.wikitide.org) to point to the same wiki, the one hosted on WikiTide. Any changes not transferred over to WikiTide will be inaccessible for users, although admin backups will remain for purposes of safeguarding.
I'm still editing this wiki, what should I do?
You should, first and foremost, create a new account on WikiTide, if you haven't done so already, and proceed to primarily edit and upload content there. You can continue to edit this wiki as you see fit until the February 4 date, but keep in mind that changes you make here will be lost unless you or someone else manually transfers them over before the February 10 migration date.
