Social Libertarians believe that Negative liberty and Positive liberty are equally important or Real Freedom is important; through this philosophy an ideal Social Libertarian government should provide basic necessities to guard people from domination whether that would be from Poverty or damages to the Environment. This would be done through implementing regulations which would prevent corporations from violating a persons liberty and protecting them from unfair domination, however regulations which if were not present would not violate a persons individual liberty are deemed unnecessary.

'''Libertarian Social Democracy''', sometimes referred to as '''Left-Leaning Social Libertarianism''' is an economically center to center-left and civically libertarian ideology which is often erroneously called "Moderate Social Democracy". It constitutes of take the general principles of Social Libertarianism such as welfare, civil liberties & social-market economics and amplify them, often advocating for a more developed welfare state and robust selection of social safety nets. As all Social Libertarians they advocate for UBI or NIT however they also propose M4A, paid parental leave and childcare to expand the scope of the already robust welfare state all under a Libertarian government of no interference with the individual, some regulations and some taxation such as LVT or even in some instances, Progressive or Flat taxation. Moreover, they are known to support non-interventionist foreign policies and typically gravitate towards supporting general Social Democratic policies. Despite being described to be "statist" by more Right-Leaning Social Libertarians, they still constitute as a variant of Social Libertarianism due to their staunch commitment to a non-interfering libertarian government; something that Social Democracy does not follow.

'''Libertarian Paternalism''', or '''LibPat''', is a [[File:Libunity-yellow.png]] Libertarian ideology that revolves around the belief that private and public institutions should be able to influence choices and behavior, while still respecting freedom of choice.

'''Liberaltarianism''' is an economically center to center-right and civically libertarian variant which can be described as Social Libertarianism that is closer economically to Classical Liberalism or Neoliberalism. They adhere to general concepts of Welfare and equally important Negative & Positive freedoms however differ by the extent in which the Welfare policies shall be introduced. They prefer a more moderate set of social safety nets such as just UBI or NIT, usually one or the other, and keep regulations and taxes to a minimal, adhering to the more right-libertarian ideology of minimal or void taxation. This variant of Social Libertarianism is seen to be comparable to typical ideas of right-libertarianism albeit an addition of minimal basic government provided social safety nets.
