The most well known welfare policies that Social Libertarians all advocate for is [[File:UBI.png]] universal basic income or a [[File:NIT.png]] negative income tax, however some more left-leaning variants would advocate for a more robust system intertwining Single Payer Healthcare or Universal Catastrophic Coverage, Free Public Education and in some instances paid-for social housing. The aim of the Welfare state or social-safety nets is not to subsidise complacency as most Libertarians would put it, but to ensure everyone has an equal starting line when participating in the competitive free market which is prone to contain inequalities and dominion over the individual which violates a person's individual liberty and disallows fair competition.

Social Libertarians believe that Negative liberty and Positive liberty are equally important; through this philosophy an ideal Social Libertarian government should provide basic necessities to guard people from domination whether that would be from Poverty or damages to the Environment.
