In the post-imperialist phase, former colonies or territories gain autonomy and/or independence, but they may still face the legacy and consequences of theirimperial former rulerrule, such as economic inequality, cultural influences or geopolitical complexities. This often involves changing the global power dynamics and can create new challenges and opportunities in international relations.
