(I mean dedicating yourself to the creation of a new state based on enslaving the vast majority of the population, that being local natives, only to be almost entirely wiped out from such horrid conditions, and being so despised even in ones own time to basically being a criminal, having to be jailed because of said "shenanigans", before being pardoned since the colonial project was so profitable for Spain.)
