==Beliefs==
The most fundamental structure in tribalism is the family. Most people tended to group around and remain with their families. Marriages were performed as an exchange between families, cementing a connection between the two. this usually but not always meant that the woman would be handed over to the man's family. a large extended family made up a clan, and many clans made up a tribal identity. most clans had a family head that made high level decisions. many iron age tribes in Europe had tribal chiefs that gained their authority through the consent of the most powerful clans, and retained their authority through strength. when tribal chiefs died or lost their strength, a power struggle would ensue. Tribes and even clans would often act very hostile towards each other, and small scale wars between clans were a common occurrence.
