quote="The United States should provide an annual income of $12,000 for each American aged 18–64, with the amount indexed to increase with inflation. It would require a constitutional supermajority to modify or amend. ... The poverty line is currently $11,770. We would essentially be bringing all Americans to the poverty line and alleviate gross poverty."

Social Libertarianism, clipped to SocBert, is a civically libertarian, economically variable (ranges from Center-Left to Center-Right) ideology that leans culturally left. It advocates for a robust decentralized government and social welfare. SocBert believes that both negativeNegative liberty (i.e. freedom to do stuff) and positivePositive liberty (i.e. freedom from forces such as poverty, bad health, and pollution) are equally important or Real freedom (i.e. negative freedom with possess the resources or capacities actually to carry out their will) is important and therefore libertarian ideology should be reformed to view liberty & justice as being free from all forms of domination instead of only freedom from the state. Socbert tends to agree with libertarianism on most issues, but disagrees on economics and welfare, believing that a welfare state (ideally through universal basic income or a negative income tax) and some forms of regulation are needed to guarantee positive liberties. Social Libertarians either support regular social democratic economic polices ( Libertarian Social Democracy) or social capitalism ( Yangism), depending on which variant.

Furthermore, most SocBerts are against foreign intervention. However, that isn’t always true, with Andrew Yang advocating for interventionists like Chris Christie or Dean Phillips.

Beliefs
Social libertarianism is a political philosophy that endorses individual liberties, limited government, and a social market economy through culturally progressive reforms and decentralization. It is considered center-left andto centrist within the context of the political spectrum however some variants lean center-right. They support the expansion of civil liberties and equal opportunities through the common good, which corresponds with their individualistic philosophy. Social libertarianism advocates for a robust decentralized limited government and social welfare commonly through the means of UBI or NIT. Some Social Libertarians believe in other policies and beliefs such as geo-distributistism but all follow the same core tenants which constitutes the ideology of Social Libertarianism.

Core tenants of Social Libertarianism include:

Social-Market Economy & Welfare
Social Libertarians would ideally be inclined to use a Social-Market economic system which combines a free-market capitalist economic system alongside social policies and enough regulation to establish both fair competition within the market and generally a welfare state. Furthermore, this economic system would allow things such as private property, free trade, free market, market competition, mild to moderate economic interventionism, and a welfare state. Most Social Libertarians agree that a suitable method to fund the welfare state would be Land Value Taxation , Government revenues from public enterprises and even in some instances Value Added Taxation.

The most well known welfare policies that Social Libertarians all advocate for is universal basic income or a negative income tax, however some more left-leaning variants would advocate for a more robust system intertwining Single Payer Healthcare or Universal Catastrophic Coverage, Free Public Education and in some instances paid-for social housing. The aim of the Welfare state or social-safety nets is not to subsidise complacency as most Libertarians would put it, but to ensure everyone has an equal starting line when participating in the competitive free market which is prone to contain inequalities and dominion over the individual which violates a person's individual liberty and disallows fair competition.

Individual Liberty
Social Libertarians believe that Negative liberty and Positive liberty are equally important or Real Freedom is important; through this philosophy an ideal Social Libertarian government should provide basic necessities to guard people from domination whether that would be from Poverty or damages to the Environment. This would be done through implementing regulations which would prevent corporations from violating a persons liberty and protecting them from unfair domination, however regulations which if were not present would not violate a persons individual liberty are deemed unnecessary.

Decentralisation
They support the expansion of civil liberties and equal opportunities through the common good, which corresponds with their individualistic philosophy. Social libertarianism advocates for a robust decentralized limited government and social welfare. Their support for a welfare state commonly takes the form of UBI.
As in the name, Social Libertarians advocate for a decentralised small government which minimally interferes or does not at all interfere with the lives of a person outside of welfare and social safety nets. Furthermore Social Libertarians support Direct Democracy or in some instances Semi-Direct Democracy, this system maximises freedoms & liberties whilst keeping state power and bureaucracy to a minimal. Most Social Libertarians argue that an ideal Social Libertarian government would be closely structured to the Helvetic Model

Line 221 ⟶ 228:
* Human-Centred Capitalism is a reformed version of Capitalism which is geared towards maximising human well-being and fulfillment, instead of corporate profits. It also would replace several traditional economic metrics with an "American Scorecard".
*Yang is well-known for his advocacy for Universal Basic Income (UBI). His most famous policy is Freedom Dividend, a $1,000-per-month UBI that is given to all US citizens aged 18 or older regardless of employment status, to help fight off job displacement from automation.
*In addition to UBI and human-centered capitalism, single-payer healthcare (Medicare for All) was a fundamental aspect of Yang's platform. Furthermore, he also added that he would "would keep the option of private insurance" as his goal was to "demonstrate to the American people that private insurance is not what [they] need" and that Medicare for All is "superior to [their] current insurance."
*Yang was opposed to making public colleges tuition-free, but did support investing in community colleges to drastically reduce their tuition and Student Loan forgiveness.
*However a slight deviation from common Social Libertarian ideas, Yang was known to support some forms of foreign intervention such as combatting Russian Expansionism, however he favored more diplomatic approaches to solutions.

Libertarian Social Democracy
Libertarian Social Democracy is an economically center-left and civically libertarian ideology. It is considered a more moderate form of left-libertarianism. It supports basic social democratic principals and policies but with an added focus on civil liberties and is opposed to rampant statism outside of the economy. They also tend to support Direct Democracy and Non-Interventionist foreign policy. Notable examples of Libertarian Socdems include late former Alaska senator Mike Gravel, left-wing political commentator and youtuber Kyle Kulinski, Democratic presidential candidate, author and activist Marianne Williamson, and progressive journalist Amy Goodman.

Libertarian Social Democracy, sometimes referred to as Left-Leaning Social Libertarianism is an economically center to center-left and civically libertarian ideology which is often erroneously called "Moderate Social Democracy". It constitutes of take the general principles of Social Libertarianism such as welfare, civil liberties & social-market economics and amplify them, often advocating for a more developed welfare state and robust selection of social safety nets. As all Social Libertarians they advocate for UBI or NIT however they also propose M4A, paid parental leave and childcare to expand the scope of the already robust welfare state all under a Libertarian government of no interference with the individual, some regulations and some taxation such as LVT or even in some instances, Progressive or Flat taxation. Moreover, they are known to support non-interventionist foreign policies and typically gravitate towards supporting general Social Democratic policies. Despite being described to be "statist" by more Right-Leaning Social Libertarians, they still constitute as a variant of Social Libertarianism due to their staunch commitment to a non-interfering libertarian government; something that Social Democracy does not follow.
Libertarian Paternalism
Despite sounding like an oxymoron, Libertarian Paternalism states that it is perfectly non-contradictory to have a small state the acts Paternalistic. This would be done through "Nudges", towards the populous in the favor of the state, while still respecting the citizen's right to not listen. An example would be things like cigarettes in most western countries. The citizen is completely free to buy and smoke them, but they are highly discouraged through things like high prices and and warnings on packaging. This model of government action is supported by many Social Libertarians

Libertarian Paternalism
Liberaltarainism
Libertarian Paternalism, or LibPat, is a Libertarian ideology that revolves around the belief that private and public institutions should be able to influence choices and behavior, while still respecting freedom of choice.
Despite being a separate ideology Liberaltarianism is often considered a more right leaning version of SocLib in the center scale favoring Social Capitalism and a moderate welfare safety net. Regular Liberaltarains support Modern American Liberal economics alongside Libertarian civics or Center Liberaltarians who favor a synthesis of Economic and Social Liberalism with more welfare. Right Liberaltarians support less welfare and are more Classical Liberal and right wing. Generally Liberaltarainism is a wide term that is mostly associated with a moderate approach to welfare and civics.
