The Black Panther Party was founded in Oakland, California, by Afro-Americans Bobby Seale and Huey P. Newton in October 1966.
The Black Panther were Marxist-Leninists who spoke out against the brutality against Black Americans in the civil Rights movement and provided humanitarian needs. J. Edgar Hoover (former FBI director) said that the Black Panthers were the single biggest threat to the United States. Ironically, this was during the Vietnam War.
