The teachings of The Tribes have changed over time, originally Mormons believed all Native Americans were descended from Israelites and still had strong cultural connections to Israel and Judaism. Modern Mormonism teaches Israelites were ''among'' The ancestors of Native Americans, and Israelite influence on Native Americans is lost to time.
