From 1917-1922, in the aftermath of World War I, many separatist movements and revolutions happened across Europe. Some of these included [[File:Cball-Finland.png]] Finland (separated from [[File:Cball-Russia.png]] Russia), [[File:Cball-Yugoslavia-old.png]] Yugoslavia (separated from [[File:Cball-AustriaHungary.png]] Austria-Hungary), [[File:Cball-Bavaria.png]] Bavaria (separated from [[File:Cball-Germany.png]] Germany but rejoined), and many others. A lot of these had their roots in [[File:Ethnonat.png]] [[Ethnic Nationalism]], [[File:Cultural Nationalism.png]] [[Cultural Nationalism]], and [[File:Soc.png]] [[Socialism]].
In 1991, the Soviet Union collapsed. This was do to [[File:Nation.png]] [[Nationalism]] and Separatism. In the aftermath of the collapse, many new countries separated and became independent. But, separatists tried to separate from the newly created countries, causing chaos in regions like [[File:Cball-Abkhazia.png]] Abkhazia and South Ossetia in [[File:Cball-Georgia.png]] Georgia, [[File:Cball-Armenia.png]] Nagorno-Karabakh in [[File:Cball-Azerbaijan.png]] Azerbaijan, [[File:Cball-Transnistria.png]] Transnistria and Gagauzia in [[File:Cball-Moldova.png]] Moldova, [[File:Cball-Chechnya.png]] Chechnya in [[File:Cball-Russia.png]] Russia for many years to come.
In 2014, Separatism caused a war in [[File:Cball-Ukraine.png]] Ukraine. It started with the annexation of Crimea by Russia, but then spread to the East with the "proclamation" of the so-called [[File:Donetsk republic.png]] Donetsk and [[File:Cball-Lugansk.png]] Luhansk People's Republics. There were attempts to create similar thing in Kharkiv and Odesa, but they were crushed. Despite countless evidence of Russian military fighting on the separatist side, [[File:Putin.png]] Russian officials deny their involvement in the war.
