Zemmour founded Reconquete in December 2021, with an entent to participate in the then-upcoming 2022 French presidential election. The party quickly gained popularity, as the [[File:MarineLePen.png]] [[Welfare Chauvinism|National Rally]] party was becoming less far-right as the years went by. However, Zemmour would poorly preform in the first round of the election, and ended up endorsing Le Pen in the electionsecond round.
