Eco-Socialism (shortened to EcoSoc) is an environmentalist, economically left-wing and otherwise varied ideology. He believes that the reduction of CO2 emissions and socialist-style economically are complementary as pollution is the result of mainly Capitalist commodity production as EcoSoc claims.

It is very close to File:Soc.png Socialism economically, but more varied in other ways. It believes that Capitalism will destroy the planet and that we need to have a revolution. Unlike Eco-Fascism, it believes all people should be treated equally. But it also believes in extreme environmentalism.

Foundations and Beliefs

Economics

Eco-Socialism generally believes in the abolition of Capitalism, in the belief that it puts profits over the environment, and the establishment of a participatory socialist economy that's environmentally sensitive and sustainable.[2]

Under this system, the people would, through direct democracy, administer larger operations, like factories and grocery stores, while smaller operations, like mom and pop shops; family run stores and such, would be left to the direct democratic decision of the people who partake it it's operation.[3]

But along with this, the people would also directly elect representatives, most likely experts , to (and much more)[4]:

  • Advise the populous on the best decision to take.
  • Make decisions in the place of the people, while still being accountable to decisions like recalls.
  • Make essential decisions, like respond to a major problem at a power plant, and block oppressive decisions.

Civics

Eco-Socialism is, most of the time, found around the left centre of the political compass; around the centre of the civic axis on the left. But this may not always be the case.

Some Eco-Socialists may have more authoritarian views, while others may be more libertarian in their politics. Largely depends on who you ask.

Culture

Exactly the same as the civics of Eco-Socialism, their cultural values could vary. While most people on the left, including Eco-Socialists, are generally File:Prog.png progressive, you could, from time to time, run into people who are more conservative or traditional.

Personality

Ecosoc can be portrayed as a stereotypical ultra-environmentalist who talks about things like "Eating bugs", "Living in a Pod", etc. especially in right-leaning comics.

How to Draw

Flag of Eco-Socialism
  1. Draw a ball.
  2. Fill it in red.
  3. Draw the outline of a leaf in green.
  4. Draw a straight, green line down the center of the "hollow" part of the leaf
  5. Draw green lines coming out of the line in the center in both directions with spaces large enough to go over the "hollow" part of the leaf.

And you're done!

  • Eco-Fascism - Believe it or not, we can stop climate change without killing minorities.
  • Eco-Capitalism - Not a true environmentalist, you just want to cash in! Still, out of all capitalists, this one is at least tolerable.
  • Eco-Conservatism - Always gets pissed when I smoke weed before the protest.
  • Maoism - I like your economics, but what the fuck is that "gReAt LeAp FoRwArD" shit?
  • Pol Potism - Make Cambodia more eco-friendly, but is too vile for me and sometimes killed ecologists for being "intellectual".
  • Stalinism - Your economics are ok, but why industrialism?

Enemies

  • Capitalism - More like CRAP-italism, amirite? Except crap is good because it can be used as fertilizer ( Circulus Theory would know).
  • Industrialism - A destructive by-product of capitalism.
  • Anti-Environmentalism - I hate you more than crapitalism!
  • Fiscal Conservatism - I'll never forget how Sinema abandoned us to vote against the Green New Deal and the $15 minimum wage. Fuck you!
  • State Capitalism - Just because you have a state doesn’t make you any better you polluting jerk!
