Social Democracy, often clipped to SocDem (or SuccDem by ideologies that disagree with it), is an economically center-left, culturally left-wing, and civically moderate, though usually leaning libertarian, ideology. Despite often being called a "File:Soc.png socialist" by right-wing ideologies, Social Democracy is often excluded from leftist circles as well due to their support for reforming capitalism rather than abolishing it. Social Democracy finds that welfare programs and business regulations, when achieved through reform rather than revolution, can lead to higher prosperity for the proletariat than systems of unregulated capitalism or collectivist socialism.

    History

Social Democracies have been established in Europe and other types of the world as follows: India since the establishment of the DPSP, the French Republic during the 1930's before   German Occupation, Australia ever since WWII, Sri Lanka since the early 1940's, the French Republic after the fall of Vichy France,   Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Greenland.

Its debatable on whether the United Kingdom or the United States also qualify as Social Democracies given the previous definition of a social democracy (capitalist countries with democratically enacted regulations and welfare states).

    New Zealand

New Zealand established a Social Democratic welfare state in the 1930's, which still partially remains today. This is despite undergoing significant fiscal reforms in the 1980's under the   Rogernomics system, akin to   Fiscal Conservatism.

    Foundations

    Personality

Social Democracy is generally portrayed as being quite care-taking of other people, even if they may not like it. They are occasionally mistaken for   Democratic Socialism.
