This page is about the ideology commonly referred to Communism. The formal name for it is Marxism-Leninism. For other uses, see Communism.

Marxism–Leninism (alternatively known as State Marxism, State Socialism, or just Communism) is an authoritarian, economically far left, usually culturally left, and internationalist ideology. It is based on Joseph Stalin's ideological synthesis of Orthodox Marxism and Leninism, although many self-proclaimed Marxist-Leninist leaders were opposed to Joseph Stalin, such as Fidel Castro and Nikita Khrushchev. It usually represents Stalin's theoretical contributions, while Stalin's actions taken as leader of the Soviet Union are usually referred to as Stalinism.

He believes in the historical theory that social revolution by the working class is brought upon by a vanguard party of revolutionaries. This would then lead to a "dictatorship of the proletariat" through a communist political party which serves as the state’s government, which would reorganize society to bring the social revolution into action. He believes that Anarchism is a childish ideology, and that the Bourgeois Class will not give up its wealth. He is one of the main, largest, aggressive, hated and most known enemies against Libertarian Right quadrant. Many ideologies hate him, including Capitalism, Anarcho-communism, Conservatism, Liberalism and Fascism.

History

Founding

Marxism-Leninism, despite what the name may suggest, was founded as an ideology by Joseph Stalin after the death of Vladimir Lenin. It was created as a synthesis of the ideas of Marx, Engels, and Lenin.

Soviet Union

Russian Revolution

The Russian Revolution was a revolution that formed the first Marxist-Leninist country by eliminating Tsar Nicholas II in 1917. Before the revolution, Russia was in a complicated situation, high social inequalities, lack of freedom, absolutism, extreme poverty, illiteracy, remnants of feudalism, backwardness compared to other countries, exhausting work with several hours and among countless other problems. One of the first oppositions emerged with the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party (RSDLP) of a Marxist and democratic socialist nature founded by Vladimir Lenin, but ended up being considered illegal by the Empire, in which Lenin ended up fleeing to other European countries. Subsequently, the party split into two wings, the more radical Bolsheviks (Russian "Majority") and the more moderate Mensheviks (Russian "Minority").

The empire was already losing popularity among the people, in which there were protests in 1905 in Saint Petersburg, but it was violently repressed with the imperial guard shooting and killing hundreds, in what became known as Bloody Sunday. After the massacre, the people were furious against the tsar, culminating in the revolution of 1905, causing the tsar to create the Duma (parliament) as a way to alleviate the situation, allowing parties, in which the St. . Many historians claim that the revolution of 1905 was a "rehearsal" for that of 1917. In 1907, some revolutionaries were arrested or had to flee (like Lenin, again). way to calm the protests and increase patriotism against an outside enemy, but it was a disaster due to the high number of casualties and the death of 1,600,000-1,800,000 soldiers, destroying what was left of Russia (economy, infrastructure, quality of life , etc was completely destroyed), causing the tsar himself to command the army in 1915 leaving his wife to rule the country, in which they accused her of treason for being German and also of the Romanov family being influenced by Grigori Rasputin, being assassinated in 1916. numerous protests, rebellions and increased tensions, in which there was a demonstration in 1917, in which the guard was called to repress, but ended up allying with the protesters, which in March of the same year took place the Revolution of February (calendar difference), overthrowing the Tzar and the monarchs. A provisional government formed by the Duma and led by Alexander Kerensky was formed, in addition to the influence of the Petrograd Soviet (dual power). Kerensky's provisional government ended up granting amnesty to political prisoners and establishing a democracy with a secret vote, but continued into World War I, in which at the behest of the German government to destabilize Russia, Lenin returned to Russia, promising "Peace, Land and Bread". ", that in October of the same year, there was the October Revolution, overthrowing the provisional government and Lenin taking power. The Bolsheviks became the communist party and took measures in this direction, in addition to exiting the First World War, which, even losing the elections, remained in power and repressed opponents (turning into a dictatorship).

Several opponents of Lennin, some ex-Mensheviks, pro-church and pro-empire formed the white army, while the communists formed the red army led by Leon Trotsky. The white army took most of the country (Siberia), but the whites it had several internal divergences, the red army took the smallest part (the European part), but the was "better part", in which it had more industries, population, a better climate, etc. and it had few internal divergences. There were also Greens who were against everyone and wanted centrism and Blacks who were anarchists, who took Ukraine but later supported the Reds. There was also the execution of the Romanov family. Both sides committed massacres and atrocities, known as White Terror and Red Terror. There was the consolidation of the USSR, there were the so-called revolutionary courts that tried, arrested or executed the "counter-revolution".

After the revolution, communism began to take influence, parties and movements in Europe, bringing the first red fear, eventually electing fascist and anti-communist leaders later. There are currently several debates and controversies regarding the Russian Revolution, with some extolling Lenin as a liberator of the oppressed from capitalism, others as a genocidal dictator who led the Russian people to misery and others considering him as a state capitalist because of the NEP.

Germany

Marxism-Leninism, started in Germany in the 1920s, when the KPD, progressed from a libertarian and council-communist party, to a Marxist-Leninist party, under Ernst Thälmann, who would run for various different positions. The KPD would also start the Anti-Racist Action movement, which directly countered racism in Germany in the 1930s. The KPD, along with many other leftist parties, was banned, and Thälmann was later shot on Hitler's orders. After Nazi Germany was overthrown, the Eastern part of it was taken over by the Socialist Unity Party, a merger of the KPD and Social Democratic parties, and transformed along with the majority of the Eastern Bloc, countries that the Soviet Union liberated from fascism, to Marxist-Leninist states. This would later lead to the GDR, or East Germany, which existed for many years, and had an array of different leaders, most notable of which being Erich Honecker. Eventually, like most Eastern Bloc countries, it was dissolved.

Neo-Marxism-Leninism

Neo-Marxism-Leninism, Pink Socialism or Communism of Generation Z, is based on the views of some political movements and some digital influencers mostly young far-left (in fact). They usually use social networks like Twitter, Tumblr, TikTok (some from LeftTok), YouTube among others. Mostly they preach the end of capitalism for supposedly capitalizing on and oppressing the LGBT community, destroying the environment, having inherent racism, among other things. They preach rights and some laws that favor women, LGBTQ, blacks, overweight, trans and non-binary people, indigenous people, etc. They are a strong opponent of police and prisons and some support vegetarianism or even radical veganism. They are strong opponents of conservatism and centrism acknowledging that centrism is ultimately in the interests of the status quo and the bourgeois class.

Cultural Beliefs

Marxism Leninism, is (at least in theory), a culturally neutral/variable ideology, with it describing economic and state positions, but not cultural ones. However, despite this, many Marxist Leninists, both historic and present, have tended to shift towards culturally left positions, such as state atheism, feminism, and the elimination of traditional values, prime examples of this can be seen in Lenin, Sankara, Pauker, Kadar, Honecker, File:Gottwald2.png Gottwald, Jaruzelski, Ulbricht, Hoxha, Habash, Thalmann, Beirut, and Mao. There are a few culturally conservative Marxist-Leninists, such as Brezhnev, Kim (Jong-Il), and Husak, while others such as Stalin, Khrushchev, Castro, Ho, Kim (Il-Sung) and Tito are culturally centre/syncretic/ambiguous. But Marxist Leninists usually lean towards culturally left positions.
