Republicanism is a Non-Quadrant ideology centered on a system of government that (at least nominally) is non-hereditary, and opposition to Monarchism. Most of his views are dependent on context, varying from country to country. The only consistent trait has been hatred for monarchist systems.

History

Republics have existed since Classical Antiquity, such as the Roman Republic and Carthage, but by the time of the start of the Common Era, Carthage was long destroyed and Rome became an empire, temporarily putting an end to republicanism. Later, during the middle ages, several republics were created in Northern Italy, such as Venice, Pisa, and Genoa, all of them quite small, but wealthy, There were also several free cities within the Holy Roman Empire that were republics with elected mayors. In the Early modern period, the Dutch republic was also estabilished as an example of a wealthy republic, and a short-lived Protectorate in the British Isles. However, the rising anti-monarchist sentiment stemming from the Enlightenment and events such as the American and French Revolutions would the modern form of republicanism arise, becoming the dominant form of government by the 1920s, in Europe and the Americas at least.

Republicanism REALLY hates monarchists and is usually seen attacking them. Acts as a mentor to Leninism, Jacobinism, Ilminism, and other ideologies that explicitly oppose the monarchy. Hangs out with Enlightenment Thought.
